Corning CoolCell is a reusable, purple cryopreservation container designed to hold twelve 1 mL or 2 mL cryogenic vials during controlled cooling in a −80 °C freezer. The insulated foam body, solid-state core and radially symmetrical vial positions support an approximately −1 °C/minute cooling profile without isopropanol or other fill liquids. The container helps standardize freezing of cell suspensions before transfer to the laboratory's chosen long-term storage system. Its fluid-free design avoids changing alcohol and reduces routine container preparation. CoolCell is a passive freezing accessory used with a separate freezer; it is not an independent refrigerated instrument or a liquid-nitrogen storage vessel.
