Answer:The nominal particle retention rating is 8 µm, with a medium filtration rate suitable for quantitative analytical work.
Answer:The ash content is at most 0.007%, helping minimize residue from the paper when filters are ashed during gravimetric determination.
Answer:Each circle is 125 mm in diameter, and one pack contains 100 sheets.
Cytiva Whatman Grade 40 ashless quantitative filter paper consists of 125 mm circular sheets for gravimetric analysis and general analytical filtration. The cellulose-based paper has a nominal particle retention rating of 8 µm, medium filtration speed and a maximum ash content of 0.007%. Low residual ash is important when a retained precipitate or solid fraction is ignited before mass determination. Applications include environmental and pollution monitoring, soil extract preparation, cement and mineral analysis, and preliminary filtration of samples for atomic absorption analysis. Use an appropriate filter funnel and seat each circle securely to prevent solution from bypassing the paper. Select the filtration volume and loading to avoid tearing or clogging, and wash retained solids in line with the applicable analytical method. For gravimetric work, dry, ash or condition the filter under a validated procedure and account for blank contributions. The nominal particle retention rating is not a sterilizing membrane pore-size claim. Each package contains 100 circular papers.
