Cytiva QAE Sephadex A-50 is a strong anion exchange resin supplied as dry, cross-linked dextran beads for protein fractionation and other bioseparations. The permanently charged QAE functional groups capture appropriately charged biomolecules through electrostatic interactions. Separation behavior depends on the target's net charge, sample pH and the ionic strength of the running buffer. The A-50 matrix provides a useful porous dextran network for laboratory-scale batch adsorption and chromatography after appropriate hydration. Prepare and swell the dry resin with a compatible buffer, then equilibrate it fully before applying clarified samples. Evaluate stepwise or gradient salt elution to release bound species while retaining acceptable recovery and resolution. The dry bead size is approximately 40–120 µm, and the supported operational pH range is 2–12. This is bulk dry resin, not a prepacked column or a size-exclusion-only medium. The package contains 100 g of dry material.
