HiTrap Capto S columns provide prepacked strong cation-exchange beds for protein capture and intermediate purification. This package contains five individual 5 mL columns, each filled with Capto S sulfoethyl cation-exchange resin. The larger bed volume supports scaled-up screening, purification of protein preparations and repetitive process-development experiments without packing the resin in-house. Positively charged proteins bind under compatible pH and conductivity conditions and can be recovered by changing salt concentration or other suitable elution parameters. Define the allowable loading, wash and elution conditions for the target protein, and inspect chromatograms and fraction purity for reproducibility between runs. The five-column package is distinct from a single 5 mL column or five 1 mL columns.
