ApplicationUsed in the generation of cell hybrids.
Biochem/physiol ActionsA 6-thioguanine resistant mutant of mouse L cell fibroblasts (Mouse strain C3H/An). A9 lacks guanylic acid-inosinic acid pyrophosphorylase and was isolated by virtue of resistance to 6-thioguanine (3 μg/ml). ECACC has two catalogue entries for the A9 cell line which differ in that they were deposited by different groups: A9 (Sigma Catalogue number 85011426) and A9(Hamprecht) (Sigma Catalogue number 08062526). Several other cell lines in the ECACC catalogue have been derived from A9(Hamprecht).
