Application
Sodium chloride is a mineral salt with broad range of applications in pharmaceutical formulations. Application Note

Merck SAFC EMPROVE EXPERT Sodium Chloride is a highly controlled pharmaceutical and bioprocess raw material supplied in a 12 kg plastic bucket. Sodium chloride is widely used to adjust ionic strength and conductivity in buffers, purification process solutions and other carefully specified aqueous formulations. This EMPROVE EXPERT grade has pharmacopoeial specifications covering Ph. Eur., BP, ChP, JP and USP requirements, making it suitable for workflows requiring traceable material documentation. When preparing solutions, weigh the salt against the target final concentration and dissolve it in water of appropriate quality. Verify the resulting conductivity, osmolality or ionic strength as required by the process, and document the material lot and preparation record. Changing salt concentration can alter protein binding in ion-exchange chromatography, so method-defined buffer composition is essential. The raw sodium chloride is not a sterile saline solution, a premixed process buffer or an automatically injectable finished product. Follow established controls for the intended regulated application.
