di-Sodium hydrogen phosphate dihydrate is designed for preparation of phosphate-buffer systems used in pharmaceutical production, biomolecule downstream chromatography and final liquid formulation. The EMPROVE® EXPERT material meets Ph. Eur., BP and USP requirements and has the formula Na₂HPO₄·2H₂O, molar mass 177.99 g/mol and CAS number 10028-24-7. It is a solid inorganic salt with a 5% aqueous-solution pH specification of 8.9–9.2. Low bioburden and endotoxin limits, together with controls for nucleases and proteases, make it suitable for higher-risk biopharmaceutical applications. Its specifications include an endotoxin limit of 2.5 IU/g, total aerobic count not exceeding 100 CFU/g and total yeast/mould count not exceeding 100 CFU/g. The material can be combined with an appropriate acid phosphate component to formulate buffers for the required process pH. Store at 15–25 °C. This entry identifies the EMPROVE® EXPERT product family without assuming a particular package size.
