Bactident™ Oxidase is a ready-to-use microbiology test for detecting cytochrome c oxidase activity in cultured microorganisms. The reagent-impregnated strips develop a characteristic color when an oxidase-positive organism initiates the indicator reaction. They can support preliminary differentiation of bacterial isolates during routine identification, including distinguishing oxidase-positive organisms from oxidase-negative members of common clinical and environmental groups. This configuration contains 50 test strips, reducing the need to prepare fresh oxidase reagents for each examination. The assay is intended for colonies obtained from culture rather than direct use on an unprocessed specimen. Readout timing, colony selection and medium-related interference should be considered during routine laboratory testing.
