Application Note

Merck EMSURE sulfuric acid solution is a 25% aqueous mineral-acid reagent formulated for analytical laboratory work. The liquid has the chemical identity H₂SO₄, CAS number 7664-93-9 and a stated concentration of at least 25% by alkalimetric assay. The 1 L pack is supplied in an HDPE bottle. Dilute sulfuric acid is used where a defined strong-acid environment is required in sample preparation, titration and other validated analytical procedures. A 25% solution must not be treated as concentrated acid: calculate the required acid equivalents and final solution volume from the actual concentration rather than assuming interchangeability between grades or strengths. Use suitable gloves, eye protection, chemical-resistant equipment and appropriate containment. When further dilution is needed, introduce the acid to water slowly with mixing and temperature control, never water into concentrated acid. Keep the bottle closed when not in use and follow the current safety data sheet and local handling requirements.
