Answer:Its high sodium chloride concentration inhibits many salt-sensitive microorganisms.
Answer:Acid production from mannitol fermentation changes the phenol-red indicator toward yellow.
Answer:No. Confirmation with additional identification tests is required.
GranuCult Prime Mannitol Salt Phenol-Red Agar is a selective and differential dehydrated medium used for isolation and presumptive characterization of staphylococci, including Staphylococcus aureus. Its approximately 7.5% sodium chloride content suppresses many salt-sensitive microorganisms, while mannitol fermentation generates acid that changes the phenol-red indicator from red toward yellow. The formulation supports microbiological quality-control and bioburden investigations in suitable laboratory methods. The 500 g granulated pack is designed for preparation and sterilization of agar plates; it is not a ready-to-use plated medium. Mannitol fermentation and growth on selective agar are presumptive findings, so species-level identification requires confirmatory testing. Prepare the medium at the specified concentration, control final pH and verify performance with appropriate positive and negative reference organisms.
