Answer:No. Tris-HCl is the hydrochloride salt of Tris; it has a different molecular weight and changes how buffering solutions are formulated.
Answer:It is a 10 kg package supplied in a plastic drum.
Answer:It is used with Tris base or other pH-adjusting agents to prepare buffering solutions for chromatography, protein handling and other aqueous process steps.
Merck Tris(hydroxymethyl)aminomethane Hydrochloride EMPROVE EXPERT is a high-quality Tris-HCl buffering chemical intended for biopharmaceutical process solutions and controlled manufacturing. The hydrochloride form has a molecular weight of approximately 157.6 g/mol and is supplied as a 10 kg plastic drum. Tris-HCl provides the protonated component of the Tris buffering system; mixing it with Tris base allows preparation of buffers over the appropriate pH region. This salt is distinct from free-base Tris, so the required mass and pH-adjustment strategy cannot be transferred unchanged between the two chemicals. Buffer preparation should consider temperature-dependent pH behavior, overall ionic strength and compatibility with the target biomolecule or downstream operation. Controlled manufacturing documentation supports supplier qualification and batch assessment. Use qualified water, calibrated pH instrumentation and established formulation procedures for reproducible results.
