Supelco Ascentis Express C18 columns use superficially porous, core-shell silica particles to deliver efficient reversed-phase separations on conventional and higher-pressure liquid chromatography systems. The analytical column is 100 mm long with a 4.6 mm internal diameter, packed with 2.7 µm C18 particles. Core-shell particle construction reduces the diffusion distance within the stationary phase and can improve efficiency while maintaining pressure demands appropriate to many conventional HPLC configurations. The format supports method development and routine analysis of nonpolar to moderately polar small molecules when paired with suitable aqueous–organic mobile phases. Control mobile-phase composition, solvent miscibility and sample cleanliness, and allow the column to equilibrate before assessing retention and resolution. For consistent performance, avoid unexpected pressure changes, protect the inlet from particulate material, and choose method pH and solvent conditions within the limits specified for the column family. One analytical column is supplied.
