Description
General description
Non–ionic detergent used for the solubilization of membrane-bound proteins. This purified detergent is advantageous for use with sensitive, membrane-bound proteins, overcoming the problems associated with aldehyde and peroxide impurities in polyoxyethylene detergents. Unlike its parent compound, Hydrogenated TRITON™ X-100 Detergent lacks UV absorbance and fluorescence, which cause interference in spectophotometric monitoring and assays.

Has a critical micelle concentration (CMC) of 250 µM.
Application
Intrinsic Lipid Curvature and Bilayer Elasticity as Regulators of Channel Function: A Comparative Single-Molecule Study.: This study investigates how intrinsic lipid curvature and bilayer elasticity affect channel function using single-molecule techniques. Triton™ X-100, Hydrogenated, PROTEIN Detergent, 10% Solution, Sterile-Filtered is used to solubilize membrane proteins, enabling detailed analysis of lipid-protein interactions and their impact on membrane dynamics (Ashrafuzzaman et al., 2024).
Preparing for another Ebola Outbreak: The impact of viral inactivation methods on commonly measured biochemistry analytes in plasma and urine.: This study examines the effect of viral inactivation methods on biochemistry analytes in plasma and urine, using Triton™ X-100 for viral inactivation. The findings are crucial for ensuring accurate biochemical measurements during viral outbreaks (Zhou et al., 2024).
