Merck, 940135-100G, Sodium tetrafluoroborate

General description
Our battery grade sodium tetrafluoroborate (NaBF₄) is a high-purity, anhydrous compound, synthesized carefully to minimize trace metals and other impurities. The crystalline NaBF₄ is soluble in carbonates and glymes used in battery electrolytes, like ethylene carbonate and dimethyl carbonate.
Sodium Tetrafluoroborate is an important electrolyte salt for sodium-ion batteries, offering high ionic conductivity and thermal stability. Its use supports greener technologies by enabling safer, cost-effective, and sustainable energy storage solutions with reduced reliance on scarce lithium resources, promoting environmentally friendly battery development. Application
Sodium tetrafluoroborate is used in sodium-ion battery research in liquid electrolyte formulations as an electrolytic salt or as an additive. It is intended to optimize the performance and stability of sodium-ion batteries. It has been shown to form stable fluorine-rich solid-electrolyte interphase (SEI) and cathode-electrolyte interphase (CEI), which improves the efficiency of sodium metal deposition and dissolution and leads to high cycling stability even at high voltages.
