Answer:The fritted glass base is designed for a 47 mm microfiltration assembly.
Answer:No. It is the coarse fritted support base only; a compatible funnel, membrane and receiving apparatus are separate.
Answer:The support base has a glass housing and is supplied as one piece.
The Corning PYREX fritted support base is a coarse-porosity glass support component for a 47 mm laboratory microfiltration assembly. The rigid frit provides a permeable surface beneath a selected membrane filter while helping maintain mechanical support during vacuum or pressure-assisted microfiltration using a suitable complete apparatus. It is a replacement glassware component rather than a complete filtration unit, disposable membrane disc or receiving flask. The base is supplied as one piece and has a glass housing with a listed neck diameter range of 33–41 mm. To use it, select a compatible funnel, clamp and receiving vessel and seat the membrane flat against the supporting frit in line with the assembly procedure. Inspect the glass for chips, cracks and debris before use, and avoid excessive mechanical stress on fitted ground-glass or clamped connections. Wash and clean the frit thoroughly between samples because trapped residues can cause blockage or contamination. Select the actual membrane material and pore size in line with the analytical or microbiological protocol; coarse frit porosity alone does not define the membrane's retention rating.
