DNA/RNA preparation by traditional methods frequently contains residual phenol and/or chloroform. The GenElute™-E Organic Solvent DNA Cleanup Kit is a one-step cleanup kit for the depletion of organic solvent traces, including phenol, TRIzol reagent, chloroform, and ethanol, from DNA solutions. Ideally suited for a reliable clean-up when a universal preparation for NGS library prep is desired or required.
GenElute™-E kits are based on the principle of negative chromatography, where impurities like salt, detergent, proteins and organic solvents are removed by the column material and the purified nucleic acid is collected in the flow-through in just one single centrifugation step. This convenient procedure enables a significantly faster purification of nucleic acid samples than standard bind-wash-elute procedures, with less handling, drastically reduced plastic consumable usage, and no use of hazardous materials like chaotropic salts or organic solvents.
With conventional methods, traces of chaotropic salt and ethanol are usually coeluted with these purification procedures, which often leads to inhibition of real-time PCR experiments. GenElute™-E kits do not contain any chaotropic salts, organic solvents or EDTA, resulting in improved performance in downstream applications such as PCR.
Because of the negative chromatography principle, there is no limitation to the amount of DNA that is cleaned up. Maximum sample volume is 100 μl. The purified nucleic acid is eluted in water and can immediately be used for downstream applications. A 1x TE Buffer, pH 8.5, is supplied to enable storage of samples.

Application
The GenElute™-E Organic Solvent DNA Clean-up Kit, depletes impurities such as salts, detergents, nucleotides, primers, proteins/enzymes, and dyes from DNA solutions. Purified genomic DNA is eluted in Tris buffer, pH 7.8 and can immediately be used for most common downstream applications, including PCR, genotyping, NGS, and others. Genomic DNA preparations usually show an A260/280 ratio of 1.8 to 2.0.
Features and Benefits
Fast and efficient purification (less than 3 minutes): single-spin protocol reduces pipetting steps and hands-on timeHigher quality DNA: negative chromotography-based purification reduces carryover of PCR inhibitors and other contaminents Reduced environmental impact: 55% less plastic waste, as well as a significant reduction in hazardous chemicals
Preparation Note
Use within 12 months of receipt.
Other Notes
We believe that green chemistry will contribute to a better tomorrow. With a growing portfolio of greener alternatives, there are now more choices to reduce the ecological impact of your research while still delivering quality and efficacy so your results are not compromised. GenElute™-E purification kits avoid the use of hazardous wash buffers typically employed in silica-based purification kits, significantly reducing chemical waste. The single-spin protocol also limits the number of collection steps, reducing plastic waste by 55% compared to equivalent bind-wash-elute methods. GenElute™-E is designated a Greener Alternative Product based on the "Prevention" and "Designing Safer Chemicals" qualifications of The 12 Principles of Green Chemistry.GenElute™-E kits also adhere to the principles of SMASH Packaging, our global initiative to improve the sustainability through the reduction of packaging materials, the increased use of sustainable alternatives, and improved recyclability. Packaging is FCS-marked for sustainable forestry practices and produced from greater than 70% recycled content.
