MCE Membrane Filter, 0.22 μm Pore Size is designed for filtration and sample preparation requiring a hydrophilic mixed-cellulose-ester membrane. Each plain white disc is 47 mm in diameter, with a 0.22 µm pore size and approximately 75% porosity. The material is suitable for biological and environmental monitoring workflows, selected sterilizing-filtration applications, bioassays and nucleic-acid-binding work, including environmental DNA. It can also be used in workflows assessing virus-like particles in wastewater or microplastics in water when the pore size and material fit the validated method. The filters are supplied non-sterile as 100 individual discs. The membrane material can be sterilized using compatible ethylene oxide, gamma irradiation or autoclave procedures; the shipped product itself is not sterile. The plain surface differs from the gridded membranes used for direct microbiological colony counting. Its hydrophilic character supports wetting during aqueous filtration, while the 47 mm disc format permits installation in an appropriately sized holder.
