Promega DTT Molecular Grade provides 25 g of DL-dithiothreitol as a dry powder for biochemical and molecular biology applications. DTT is a thiol-based reducing agent used to maintain protein sulfhydryl groups in the reduced state and protect susceptible enzymes against oxidative inactivation. Applications include preparation of enzyme buffers, protein purification mixtures, biochemical assays and selected nucleic-acid workflows. The molecular-grade powder is quality tested and free of detectable DNase, RNase and protease activity. Its chemical formula is C₄H₁₀O₂S₂, with a molecular weight of 154.25 g/mol and powder purity of at least 99.0%. DTT should be prepared at the working concentration required by each assay because its reducing activity changes after solution preparation and exposure to air. The 25 g format is distinct from the 5 g powder and 100 µL liquid versions.
