Answer:It is evaluated when a medium-cutoff ultrafiltration membrane may provide a suitable balance of protein retention and permeate transport.
Answer:It is designed for use with the dedicated Ambr Crossflow filter holder and automated crossflow platform.
Answer:Crossflow rate, transmembrane pressure, buffer composition and concentration factor can be screened while measuring flux and protein recovery.
The Ambr CF 30 kDa polyethersulfone cassette is a disposable tangential-flow filtration device for parallel screening of protein concentration and buffer-exchange conditions. A 10 cm² membrane area makes the cassette compatible with the small working volumes and automated controls of the Ambr Crossflow system. The 30 kDa nominal cutoff provides an intermediate membrane choice when comparing protein retention, permeate flux and product recovery against tighter or more open ultrafiltration membranes. This configuration can support feasibility studies for antibody fragments, enzymes and other larger biotherapeutic molecules, subject to experimental confirmation of retention behavior. Polyethersulfone is a stable membrane polymer used in biotechnology filtration processes. During screening, transmembrane pressure, crossflow rate and feed composition can be varied to understand concentration polarization and fouling. Four filter cassettes are supplied per box; this item is not a complete filtration instrument.
