The Invitrogen DynaMag-96 Side Magnet is a benchtop magnetic separation rack for workflows using Dynabeads magnetic particles in compatible PCR strips and 96-well PCR plates. Magnets pull the beads to the sidewalls of the wells so supernatant can be aspirated while leaving bead-bound material in place. The holder supports typical sample volumes of approximately 5–200 µL in the compatible formats. Its 13-column magnetic configuration also permits mixing by shifting a 96-well plate from one position to another, moving beads across the liquid without pipette agitation. Use the magnet for binding, washing, and sample-processing operations that require side capture; low-volume elution may benefit from a separate bottom-capture magnet. Check the plate skirt geometry and fit before processing. The rack is not intended for independent single PCR tubes and does not include the magnetic beads or assay chemistry.
