NuPAGE™ MES SDS Running Buffer (20X), 500 mL is used for SDS-PAGE of small-to-medium proteins with NuPAGE Bis-Tris gels. Dilution to 1X produces a running buffer containing 50 mM MES, 50 mM Tris base, 0.1% SDS and 1 mM EDTA at approximately pH 7.3. The MES-based system provides the ionic environment for electrophoretic separation in the NuPAGE Bis-Tris workflow and is supplied as a 500 mL, 20X liquid concentrate for preparation of working buffer as needed. The buffer can also be used with compatible Bolt Bis-Tris gel workflows. Store the concentrate at 4–25 °C. This format is suited to routine protein electrophoresis where a defined MES/SDS buffer system is required for separation of small-to-medium proteins.
