Waters ACQUITY UPLC CSH C18 VanGuard pre-columns use charged-surface hybrid particle technology to protect compatible UPLC analytical columns without introducing a long additional separation bed. Each direct-connect guard element contains endcapped 1.7 µm CSH C18 packing with a 130 Å pore diameter in a 5 × 2.1 mm format. Three pre-columns are supplied per pack. The charged-surface C18 chemistry provides a distinct retention and peak-shape profile for basic compounds compared with neutral hybrid stationary phases. These guard elements are rated for pressures up to 18,000 psi (1,240 bar) and have a specified pH range of 1–11.
