Waters XBridge Protein BEH C4 Sentry Guard Cartridges are reversed-phase guard beds for protecting protein analysis columns against sample-derived contaminants. Each cartridge contains 3.5 µm hybrid-particle C4 packing with 300 Å pores in a 4.6 mm internal diameter by 20 mm long format. The pack contains two cartridges. The relatively short-chain C4 chemistry is less hydrophobic than C18 and is useful in methods that require protein recovery with controlled retention. The wide-pore packing supports interaction with proteins and larger biomolecules, while the replaceable guard bed intercepts contaminants before the analytical column. These Sentry cartridges require a compatible holder; the Waters universal holder is ordered separately. When replacing the guard, verify both the holder dimensions and the analytical column chemistry, then monitor backpressure and chromatographic behavior. The cartridge is not a full-length analytical column and cannot substitute for the column's separation bed.
