Application Note

Waters Symmetry C8 is a conventional reversed-phase HPLC analytical column with endcapped octyl-bonded high-purity silica packing. Its 100 × 4.6 mm bed contains 3.5 µm particles with 100 Å pores. The base-deactivated support and monofunctional C8 ligands offer reproducible retention and a selectivity profile distinct from C18 phases, particularly for samples where reduced hydrophobic retention is useful. Compared with the 75 mm Symmetry C8 configuration, the 100 mm bed provides additional separation length within the same phase family. The operating limits are pH 2–8 and 6,000 psi. One column is included.
