Waters Spherisorb Silica is an unbonded silica HPLC analytical column designed for normal-phase separations. Its 4.6 × 250 mm stainless-steel column contains 5 µm silica particles with 80 Å pores. Polar surface silanol groups provide adsorption interactions that differ from bonded C18, C8 and cyano stationary phases. The bare-silica packing is non-endcapped and classified as USP L3, with an operating pH range of 2–8 and a maximum pressure rating of 6,000 psi (415 bar). This is a normal-phase analytical column, not a reversed-phase C18 column.
