Answer:tC2 is substantially less hydrophobic and is useful when lower reversed-phase retention is desirable.
Answer:400 mg of silica-based tC2 sorbent with 37–55 µm particles in each cartridge.
Answer:No. It should be conditioned and equilibrated with suitable solvents before aqueous sample loading.
Waters Sep-Pak tC2 Plus Short cartridges provide solid-phase extraction cleanup using a silica-based, endcapped tC2 bonded phase with relatively low hydrophobic retention. The 400 mg sorbent bed contains 37–55 µm particles and has a nominal 125 Å pore size. Compared with C8 or C18 media, the less retentive tC2 chemistry can help recover compounds that would otherwise bind too strongly to more hydrophobic reversed-phase sorbents. A short Plus cartridge format supports manually controlled or manifold-based sample preparation before chromatography and mass spectrometry. Condition the non-water-wettable sorbent with a suitable organic solvent, equilibrate using compatible aqueous conditions, and then load samples within the method's retention limits. Select wash and elution solvents through recovery studies instead of assuming C18 protocols will transfer unchanged. The operating pH range is approximately 2–8; the pack contains 50 cartridges for repeatable sample-cleanup workflows.
