The Corning Falcon 60 mm × 15 mm sterile bacteriological Petri dish provides a compact culture surface for microbiology procedures that require small agar plates or individual colonies. The round polystyrene dish is designed for bacteriological use and is not tissue-culture treated for adherent mammalian cell propagation. Its smaller diameter can reduce medium consumption when compared with larger dishes, while maintaining a clear container suitable for visual examination of growth and colony morphology. The supplied configuration contains 20 dishes per pack and 500 dishes per case. Prepare and pour the required microbiological medium under aseptic conditions, allow plates to solidify and dry as appropriate, and incubate in a suitable orientation under established biosafety controls. Select a dish size appropriate to the intended plating density and sampling method. Sterility applies to the dish as supplied; medium preparation and subsequent handling determine the sterility of the finished plate.
