Merck Aquastar CombiTitrant 5 is a one-component titrant for volumetric Karl Fischer determination of water in laboratory samples. Each milliliter of reagent reacts with approximately 5 mg of water, providing a nominal titration factor of 5 mg/mL. The 1 L bottle is suited to moisture testing in chemical analysis and quality-control laboratories using a compatible volumetric Karl Fischer titrator and solvent. CombiTitrant 5 uses an imidazole-based, pyridine-free formulation. Its titer should be established after a bottle is opened and checked periodically, because titrant strength changes during storage and use. Recommended storage is 15–25 °C.
