Answer:It is a virus-removal cartridge designed for validated downstream viral clearance.
Pegasus™ SV4 is a virus-retentive filter cartridge for downstream purification of biopharmaceutical process streams, including monoclonal antibody intermediates. This 10-inch cartridge uses a hydrophilically modified PVDF membrane with a nominal 20 nm rating and 2.25 m² filtration area. Its double silicone O-ring, bayonet-lock adapter, and fin end support installation in compatible cartridge housings. The design is intended for high protein throughput and stable flow during validated viral clearance operations. Applications include process-scale removal of small viruses from compatible protein solutions before later formulation steps. Process developers can evaluate flux, pressure, integrity testing, and virus clearance for their specific molecule and feed composition. The filter should not be confused with a prefilter that lacks a virus-retention function.
